The 7500 Fast Real-Time PCR System, manufactured by Applied Biosystems, is designed for fast performance and a variety of applications. Components designed to work fast allow the instrument to deliver results in as little as 30 minutes for samples on 96-well microplates, the only format compatible with the instrument. High speeds are accounted for in components that prevent losses in assay quality and results. Optical plates are optimized for fast speeds, guaranteeing precision at low reaction volumes of 10 – 30 uL. Since high speeds often cause internal temperatures to fluctuate, the 7500 utilizes a special Fast block to create constant thermal environments. Fluorescence-based PCR analysis ensures the accuracy of the target sequence throughout the reaction. Measurements are taken during and after runs for sequence analysis. Qualitative analysis occurs using end-point and dissociation-curve analysis when extension phases are completed. The integration of these designs optimizes the instrument for the fast cycling that creates fast results.
Flexibility for the 7500 Fast PCR system is provided for by many options and applications. The instrument is built with a powerful five-color platform that supports a wide range of dyes. A wide array of assay possibilities is also supported with this instrument. This includes TaqMan assays that are designed for universal cycling conditions, which avoid the need for additional optimization. Over 700,000 of these gene expression assays are supported. This range of capabilities gives the instrument a wide variety of applications, including gene expression analysis, absolute quantitation, and SNP genotyping. HRM software can also provide a high resolution melting analysis option.
