The Leica DM 3000 Microscope is designed to improve workflow while providing flexibility, comfort, and durability. This makes it a great microscope for research labs dealing with pathology and cytology, where fast work is paramount. The DM 3000 can be used in a variety of imaging applications, including bright and darkfield, phase and polarization contrast, differential interference contrast (DIC), and fluorescence microscopy. The microscope can be configured for a variety of applications and fields because of manual and automatic adjustments that can be made in optics and contrast. Central to the streamlined design is a six position objective turret that can be turned within half a second by either the six buttons on its base or those behind the focus knobs.
Automatic adjustments made by the DM 3000 feature automated light intensity. When using different objectives, the last adjustments in light intensity made manually are stored by the microscope. With light intensity preferences recorded for each objective, the DM 3000 automatically adjusts to user illumination preferences when manually changing objectives. This leads not only to faster workflow, but also a reduction in eye strain that changes in light intensity can cause. The microscope also features a motorized nose piece and motorized condenser. The motorized condenser is designed to adjust for each magnification setting, automatically changing to the correct position to provide even greater ease of use. Lastly, the microscope comes with a unique toggle mode. This toggle mode allows fast switching between two user-defined magnification settings via a single button. The combination of these automated features creates an efficient use of time and lab resources.
